We look to the dream in much the same way as we looked to the Wise Ones, for a deeper understanding about life and destiny. We seek a way of listening to psyche's voice as it speaks to us about family, love, career, aging, and perhaps most importantly, of the reality of a creative daimon calling for recognition and expression.
The ancients and later, C.G. Jung understood that dreams carry a profound message from the transcendent. Modern approaches to working with dreams tend to overlook their a priori nature, and attempt to understand these impersonal, archetypal images through the lens of the conscious, subjective mind. Archetypes cannot be muted by conscious intent, but will reveal their true nature when we strive to learn of their world, habits and tendencies.
Dream Patterning, developed by Michael Conforti, builds on the approach to dreams developed by C.G. Jung and Yoram Kaufmann, and the practices found in the world's wisdom traditions. This training program will focus on the ability to discern the presence and meaning of archetypal patterns in dreams. Participants will learn to discern the archetypal, objective nature of images, and ways to integrate the eternal, profound messages found within our dreams into daily life.
Dream Patterning is a dynamic and meaningful approach to dreams and the creative unconscious, which seeks to identify and clearly articulate the archetypal initiatives expressed through dream images and symbols. The three main objectives of this training program are:
1. The Threshold of the Dream
Learning, from the opening of the dream, to discern the nature of the archetype and the archetypal field constellated in the dreamer's life.
2. The Objective Psyche
Gaining knowledge of the relationship between the personal and archetypal meaning of images.
3. Translations
Becoming skilled at distinguishing the differences between interpretation and translation of dream images.
New participants as well as those who have attended other Dream Patterning seminars will benefit from this in-depth program.
Program Format
Each weekly seminar will be divided into two parts. Dr. Conforti will begin each session with a presentation on the theoretical and clinical perspectives of Dream Patterning. The second section will be devoted to working with actual dreams submitted by group members.
Participants will be sent weekly notification of the dial-in numbers and instructions to connect with each teleseminar session.
Each session will be recorded, and all registrations will receive links to the replays as well.
